  1. I think he gave a good explanation of the Mormon practice–1) that individuals are to baptize by proxy only their direct ancestors, 2) that the dead have the opportunity to accept or reject. He also made clear that the Mormon church is trying to get a hand on those members who have disobeyed church teaching and done the baptisms for people who are not their ancestors. This sort of conversation is how interfaith dialogue should proceed–monologue by press release doesn’t get us very far. Thanks for making the space for the conversation!
