The Brazilian Excommunications. Again.

Catholicism so rarely excommunicates anyone (and never a cleric accused of sexual abuse of children), that when it does happen it makes the news. And then people start dissecting it. In the case of the excommunication in Brazil of various people involved in aborting a 9-year-old girl’s twin fetuses, which was subsequently criticized by a Vatican official, it has now turned into a public war of words, with those who did the excommunicating defending their actions and criticizing the Vatican official.

Nothing is said about the failure to excommunicate the stepfather who raped the girl in the first place.

LifeSite has the text. David Gibson.
