Space … From My Backyard

We stepped out into the backyard tonight in time to watch the International Space Station flyover. My binoculars weren’t able to show the structure of the solar panels (the weatherman suggested binoculars might), but it was still an impressive show. Not as impressive as a shuttle flyover at night, on its way to land in Florida–those leave a bright orange plasma trail across the sky. Still … I remember on a tour of JSC when they were just putting the first modules up, and we saw some of the modules that would be going up, and they told us the day would come when it would be seen easily in the night sky.
