Castro Steps Down

After nearly fifty years, Fidel Castro has stepped down. After fifty years of American hostility and opposition, after failed CIA coup and assassination attempts and blockades and embargoes and boycotts, Fidel Castro has stepped down. He was a survivor. He outlasted Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush. They all hoped they would get credit for his ouster. But he outlasted all their plots. He outlasted all his enemies–but one. It caught up with him as it did with Mao and Kruschev, Hitler and Hirohito, and every other tyrant … and every saint. He’s still alive, but not for long.

What next, Fidel?

“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27.
