Practicing without a License

The New York Post reports that Dr. Phil (McGraw) doesn’t have a license to practice counseling in either Texas or California. His Texas license was reportedly withdrawn in 1989 for inappropriate conduct. Now he’s being investigated for his actions involving Britney Spears–showing up to counsel her and her family, and immediately blabbing to the media. But he didn’t charge them for the counsel, so that may get him off the hook.

  1. Most clergy counsel without a license, in fact unless they are a licensed social worker, psychologist or psychatrist they counsel without a license. Of course unless they hold one of those qualifications they cannot (and should not) charge for such services.
