That’s the topic I’m speaking about this weekend, at a church planting rally we’re hosting. I’m going to be focusing on some census data which documents what I already understood, that our new churches tend to be in the suburbs, but young adults tend to live in neighborhoods like Westchase, Galleria, Montrose, and the Medical Center. In some of these zip codes young adults (18-35) are 40% to 50% or more of the total population. Not surprisingly, the Catholic churches with the most active young adult groups are in these neighborhoods (St. Cyril, St. Michael, St. Anne, St. Vincent). So are other churches which attract a high percentage of young adults, like Ecclesia.
I’m looking for resources–any articles that anyone might know of on the topic of church planting and young adults. Church Planting Village has some.
