Archbishop Daniel DiNardo has appointed a new Superintendent of Schools, Sr. Kevina Keating, CCVI. She’s a graduate of Dominican College, University of San Francisco, and Stanford. She’s been on the board of Christus Health, was director of teacher education at University of San Francisco, and had been in community leadership in the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
Word on the grapevine is that many are puzzled. Those who thought DiNardo would be a strong conservative (given his “Go ahead, make my day!” speeches as coadjutor) are puzzled that he would choose someone who has what appear to be very liberal credentials. Others are puzzled by reports that he ignored his own search committee and surprised them by appointing someone who wasn’t even on their radar screen.
Other strange stories are going around. I heard that a member of the Office of Youth Ministry resigned, then sent a letter of complaint to all the youth ministers in the archdiocese, whereupon she was summarily escorted from the chancery.
