From Archbishop Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston:
While in the midst of the Easter season as we celebrate our joy in the Risen Lord and as schools across the country prepare for the celebrations of graduation, Virginia Tech University was struck by unspeakable tragedy. The loss of so many young, innocent lives is almost incomprehensible and the Archdiocese of Galveston- Houston joins the nation in mourning this terrible event.
I ask pastors and the faithful of Galveston-Houston to remember all those who died and their families during the liturgy this weekend (April 21-22) especially during the Prayers of the Faithful.
A possible formulation for the prayer is:
Let us pray for the victims of the tragedy at Virginia Tech University and for their families. May all those who lost their lives be granted eternal rest and may the survivors and the victims’ families and friends know the love and comfort of our Risen Savior. We pray to the Lord.
