Here’s the response I got from Senator John Cornyn on the matter of the House resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide:
As you know, this tragedy resulted in overwhelming loss of life and mass displacement and remains a source of pain in the lives of the people of Armenia and Turkey today. It is my hope that reconciliation may be advanced through clear dialogue between the citizens and governments of these two nations and result in restoration of economic, political, and cultural ties.
Notice any problems in that …?

I see a problem. He’s playing the all-too-popular game of “not calling it genocide” but describing it as genocide. Genocide is defined as “the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group.” If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Call it a GENOCIDE, that’s what it was.
